A Region without border
DmD-2011, we go a second time to "Riegel am Kaiserstuhl". Riegel is a small town between the Vosges-Alsace and the Black Forest.Vosges-Alsace
The Vosges-Alsace are a range of low mountains in eastern France, near its border with Germany. They extend along the west side of the Rhine valley in a northnortheast direction, mainly from Belfort to Saverne. The highest points are located in the Hautes Vosges: the Grand Ballon in ancient times called Ballon de Guebwiller or Ballon de Murbach rises to 1424 m (4,670 ft), the Storckenkopf to 1366 m (4,481 ft), the Hohneck to 1364 m (4,475 ft).

The Vosges-Alsace department is one of the original 83 departments of France, created on February 9, 1790 during the French Revolution. It was made of territories that had been part of the province of Lorraine. In German it is referred to as Vogesen and Elsass.
Vosges-Alsace is also a land of art and culture, inspired by the openness of the Alsatian people and the seemingly limitless creativity of its artists. Alsace's local arts and fine arts are extremely diverse. This is not forgetting the area's civil architecture, which includes many buildings inherited from the Renaissance and classical periods, its military architecture which bears witness to the highly strategic position that Alsace has always occupied in Europe, and its religious heritage which has given rise to countless architectural treasures.
Finally, thanks to their richness and diversity, the region's traditional rural buildings reflect the many faces of Alsace's varied geographical and cultural identity.
Black Forest
Germany’s highest non-alpine mountain range comprises only around two thirds of the total surface of the holidays region Black Forest. With the lush, sprawling heights of the Baar Area in the east, the wine country to the west and the Rhine Valley to the west and the south, no matter which area you choose: Baden, Kraichgau, Ortenau, Breisgau, Tuniberg, Kaiserstuhl or Markgräflerland – every single region boasts top-quality wines.Your will find rich and varied landscapes, a diverse selection of health and spa resorts, delicious regional food, cultural and architectural treasures, especially in local cities, living regional traditions.

There are many old towns in the Black Forest. Popular tourist destinations include Freiburg, Calw (the birth town of Hermann Hesse), Gengenbach, Staufen, Schiltach, Haslach and Altensteig. Other popular destinations include such mountains as the Feldberg, the Belchen, the Kandel, and the Schauinsland; the Titisee and Schluchsee lakes; the All Saints Waterfalls; the Triberg Waterfalls, not the highest, but the most famous waterfalls in Germany; and the gorge of the River Wutach.
Black Forest ham originated from this region, and so, by name and reputation at least, did the Black Forest Cake. It also is known as the "Black Forest Cherry Cake" and is made with chocolate cake, cream, sour cherries. The Black Forest variety of Flammkuchen is a Badisch specialty made with ham, cheese and cream. Pfannkuchen, a crêpe or crêpe-like (Eierkuchen or Palatschinken) pastry, is also common.
Kaiserstuhl
The Kaiserstuhl (literally "emperor's chair") is a small volcanic group of hills of mostly volcanic origin in the Upper Rhine Valley in southwest Germany, northwest of Freiburg. The highest elevation is the Totenkopf with 557 meters. The Kaiserstuhl features one of the warmest climates in Germany, with the town Ihringen being the town with the highest average temperature in Germany. This and the good soil make it an excellent wine growing region. The area is also home to many rare species of plants and animals.
Kaiserstuhl is also a district in the Baden wine region, and has terraced vineyards on the hills.
Riegel am Kaiserstuhl
is a German municipality in the district of Emmendingen in Baden-Württemberg.
A Mithraeum was unearthed in the residential neighborhoods of Riegel. A reconstruction of the temple was placed there, and the original artifacts can be seen at the museum in Freiburg im Breisgau.
