Nº1 MEDIEVAL VILLAGES-

PEDRAZA.
Declared a national landmark in 1951, the town of Pedraza has one of the most beautiful main squares of Castilla and Leon. At the Plaza embrace such harmony with columns, stones, doors and balconies that contemplation can lead the traveler the feeling of unreality. Dark and lonely, happy and taurine, the Plaza de la Villa remains unmoved in its eternal beauty, Its cobbled streets and emblazoned houses make up a medieval urban complex, which is essential to explore every corner, from the door of the Villa to the other end of the town, crowned by the castle, also of interest are the medieval prison and the church of San Juan.

RIAZA.
Architecturally, the town known for its typical highland houses and, above all, for its particular Plaza Mayor. Its old town has been declared a Cultural Interest. one of the most defining elements Riaza is its arcaded square, which dates from the eighteenth century, is notable for its elliptical shape for its stone steps together by wrought iron railings, for its arcades, balconies run by by the irregular height of buildings, the houses surrounding the square are characterized by arcades supported by columns of stone or wood.

SEPULVEDA.
Declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1951, Sepulveda reflected in its monuments and streets imprinting Romanesque heritage of its heyday in the eleventh to thirteenth centuries, cobbled streets, remains of walls, battlements, crests in doorways , all this gives a charm to this villa. Around the year 711 passes Sepúlveda Arab hands, being at present remains of the wall that surrounded the villa. In subsequent years, Sepúlveda happens to have a strategic importance that makes the mid-tenth century is reconquered by Fernán González and subsequently to the year 984 Almanzor it again conquer for Muslim troops, finally to the 1,010 Count Sancho Garcia gets the village and begins the second resettlement places by Christians

PALACIO DE LA GRANJA.
Perhaps the most representative work of Spanish Baroque, Henry IV built a hunting lodge in this environment in 1450 and was in the eighteenth century when Philip V, the first Spanish king of the Bourbon dynasty, built the Royal Palace of San Ildefonso. It is a magnificent example of European architecture palate. The gardens and fountains of Versailles style, with constant references to legends and mythology, and the rooms are decorated with Carrara marble, Japanese lacquer and crystal chandeliers. Its name comes from an old farm Jeronimos monks.
There are 26 sources in the Gardens Monumental, all with fantastic games and Waters Mitologicas own characters and stories.
We could say that like Versailles Mythology is dedicated to Apollo represents the sun, at the Farm is dedicated to Diana, who represents the moon.

MONASTERIO DEL PAULAR.
The Real Monasterio de Nuestra Señora Santa María de El Paular, declared a Historic Artistic Monument National, is the architectural jewel of the Upper Valley Loyoza. Its stately stands in a stunning setting, its origins date back to August 1390

For those who want in Arcones we booked a restaurant to eat, 1"Paella" or "Menestra de verdura" 2 "Caldereta de cordero" o " Ragut de ternera" dessert , bread and beverages, 10 euros per person

CASTILLO DE TUREGANO.
Medieval castle, inside which is the church of San Miguel, which dominates the town. The Plaza Mayor is an arcaded square whose arcades are formed by rows of columns of wood and stone.

MONASTERIO DEL ESCORIAL.
Escorial Monastery (1562-1584) meet in the same space: monastery, church, palace and royal pantheon.
El Escorial Monastery was founded by Philip II to commemorate the victory at the Battle of San Quentin against the French troops.
The building is made of granite and divided into three vertical zones, the central being the Patio de los Reyes. In the corners there are four towers, 55 meters, topped by metal balls which coupled with his colossal size and gray gives an overwhelming solemnity, in 1984 was declared a World Heritage Site.

AVILA.
Sheltered by the Sierra de Gredos Ávila stands, declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site. Behind the walls of this capital Castilian-Leonese a valuable set of churches and Renaissance palaces, witnesses of the past splendor of the city .
Avila is famous for its magnificent walled, preserved since the Middle Ages. It seems that one's medieval walls sit partly on Roman base, the city is more than 1,100 meters above sea level, the highest in the Spanish capital.
